Palm Beach: Steeped in History and Elegance

Since founding father Henry Morrison Flagler began to tout the virtues of Palm Beach as a “veritable paradise” in the late 19th century, “The Island” has become known around the world as a unique destination with a character all its own. Renowned for the restaurants, shops and galleries of Worth Avenue – the “Rodeo Drive of the East Coast” – Palm Beach is also home to world-class cultural institutions.

For a unique perspective on Palm Beach’s history and spirit, the Flagler Museum is the ideal starting point. Built as a wedding present for Flagler’s wife, Mary Lily Kenan Flagler, the Gilded Age estate known as Whitehall sheds light on a magical time gone by through guided tours, changing exhibitions and the opportunity to see Henry Flagler’s private railcar.

Also central to the Palm Beach cultural scene is the Society of the Four Arts, which offers a bountiful array of entertainment and exhibitions in the midst of incredible botanical and sculpture gardens. Meanwhile, cabaret fans flock to The Colony Hotel’s celebrated Royal Room for star-studded shows featuring some of the biggest names in the business.

As colorful as it is stately, Palm Beach never fails to please the most sophisticated cultural traveler.
